Road trip to Roadhaven!

Here we are at 8am and ready to get on the road!

February starts us off with a road trip to Arizona! It was so much fun to travel together! We made huge plans, bought lottery tickets, drank wine and, of course, performed for the lovely folks of Roadhaven Resort our most popular show, "Girl Talk"!
Our show "Girl Talk" is fully customizable, and we design it to suit our audience.  This version included our "Judy Garland" and "Old Time Radio" medleys, uplifting songs like "How You Live" from Point of Grace, one of our faves "I'm A Woman" from Smokey Joes Cafe and a whole lot more!

The Curves with Bay West of Roadhaven Resort.

We just love these types of shows as they give us the chance to meet our audience! We were treated just beautifully, from help unloading and running our sound, to yummy treats and diet coke back stage! Delish!  Plus, we enjoyed some lovely conversation with each other, which believe us is a treat.  Usually we have business to discuss and songs to rehearse and places to visit, but this time we had 6 hours in the car and then hotel time and uninterrupted wine and talk time!  We even got locked out of the hotel in the pool area! We were enjoying the spa and talking and we lost track of time! Luckily, the front desk guy was able to get us back in safe and sound! Just another Curvy adventure!

A Jazzy Christmas!

A Jazzy Christmas Cast Photo 2010

It is only the 2nd week of December and so much has already been accomplished!  The biggest news is that my vocal trio, Dangerous Curves produced the Christmas show for the Flamingo LibraryTheatre, “A Jazzy Christmas” and it was an absolute success! We had special guest stars, we had surprise guests, we had a gorgeous set, we sang the Hallelujah chorus!  Yes! Its true! Three girls in Las Vegas sang the Hallelujah chorus and rocked the house!
We were so very fortunate to have the Swing City Dolls as one of our guests.  They are 3, absolutely adorable girls who do the “vintage” thing in a contemporary way.  They sang “Hitch A Ride With Santa” and then we did a fantastic “Santa Medley” featuring each Doll on a favorite song-of-the-season with the Curves on back ups.
We also had the pleasure of having the  popular jazz quartet,Fifth Ave sing their amazing versions of Jolly Old Saint Nicholas and Carol of the Bells/My Favorite Things.  If you have never heard these men sing, PUT IT ON THE TOP OF YOUR  LIST! Their arrangements (Rob Hyatt) are truly magical and the Curves counted ourselves as lucky that they were available to share the stage with us.
Probably, the best moments for me were sharing the stage with our husbands! Yes, its true, all our husbands are awesome singers and truly brought the house down! Michael (Gret’s hubby) sang  “Rudy” a jazzy version of “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer” with all of us on back up duty, Ron (Lisa’s hubby) sang “You’re A Mean One, Mr. Grinch” and my hubby sang “O Holy Night” with all of us on back up as well.  The audience couldn’t get enough of our boys and we just loved it!

We made appearances this month at Sam’s Town and Nellis Airforce Base and several private parties and now, its time for a bit of a Christmas break.

All the Curves have lots going on with their solo gigs and family events and of course, our annual Curvy Christmas dinner together!  Mmmm, can't wait for delicious wine and food served up by one of our fave, gluten free place, Maggiannos.

Octoberfest of Music for the Curves!

It was an amazing month of music with the Curvy girls of Dangerous Curves! We sang our curvy tushes off!
Our first jaunt of the month was all the way in China Lake for the ladies of WACOM, an wonderful organization that raises money for those in need in their area. We had to meet up at 5am (thank you Starbucks!) to be on the road to make it in time for our sound check and show.  It was a total blast, with Lisa’s Dad, Wayne Rogers taking good care of our sound and getting us safely there and back.  Thanks, Wayne!
Next we had a gig at the Flamingo for the ladies of JAG.  What a sweet group of ladies!  We had a blast and they even shared their coffee with us after the show.
We were invited to perform at the PASNV 20th Anniversary show at one of our favorite venues, the Flamingo LIbrary Theatre.  There were lots of great performers there who had performed through the years and it was wonderful to chat with everyone.  Lots of great musical memories! :-)
Maybe the most exciting for us was the debut of an acoustic version of our show.  We were proud to be a part of the Green Girl Arts and Jazz Festival this year.  Green Girl empowers and celebrates female artists from spoken word to artist to musician.  They also are dedicated to highlighting awareness to the carbon footprint and supporting The Shade Tree Shelter for women and children in need.  Tony Bronco, our MD and all around fabulous pianist and person, played for us and it was totally dreamy!  We were at The Resort at Mt. Charleston, surrounded by mountains and trees and creatures and singing our show in an MTV unplugged style and it was pure bliss!  We felt so open and free and creative and we are ready to do it again!
Now, its Christmas time for the Curves as we prepare for our show  on December 5th at the Flamingo Library Theatre.  We are writing, producing and performing, and we even have some special guests planned.  When all is confirmed, we'll let you know!

"Girl Talk" at the Starbright Theater

We were working hard for you this weekend at the lovely Starbright Theatre in Las Vegas.  We performed our hit show, "Girl Talk" which features the songs of some of the great female singers of all time, Broadway old and new, our take on the great standards  and even a few surprises!  We had 2 special guest artists with us-the gorgeous and talented Ray Jon who accompanied us on acoustic guitar as we sang one of our new songs, "Hold On" and we sang a 6 part acapella "God Bless America" with 5th Ave a superb vocal jazz group.
As you can see from the above picture, we had a fantastic band as well!  Our MD and pianist, Tony Bronco, Jeff Davis on bass and Gary Olds holding the beat.  This was a full production 90 minute show with costume changes, wonderful lighting and sound (thanks to Jim and Dale!) and a whole lot fun!  A big, huge thanks to our families and friends, for ALL the help you gave us this weekend and all the love we get from you everyday!

Menopause the Musical, Dangerous Curves and more!

It was our distinct pleasure to perform as the spotlight guest on Thursday afternoon with some of the ladies from Menopause The Musical (currently playing at the Luxor Hotel) at the lovely Suncoast Hotel and Casino.  The Curves love performing there as the audience is welcoming and fun and the stage is beautiful.
There was certainly a lot of chicksingers present as the hostess for the afternoon was Ms. Skye Miles and the featured performers were some of the ladies from her cast of Menopause.  Laura Lee O’Connell, Annette Verdelino and Lori Legacy rounded out the talent filled afternoon.  These girls are not only great singers, but also fabulous actresses and awesome girls and loads of fun backstage.  And, let me tell you, Ms. Skye Miles is one helluva singer and did a wonderful job hosting.
On Saturday, we had a great rehearsal with one of our special guest stars, 5th Ave.  Rob Hyatt has arranged an absolutely killer version of God Bless America for us and them to perform at our show on Saturday, May 8th.  Yes! It’s 6 parts!!! OMG, people, it is gorgeous.  Rob is like arranger extraordinaire and I am so excited to have him around us!  Not only that, we recorded our CD "Girl Talk" in Rob's studio.  He is a multi-talented man, for sure and we love him!
It's only a few short days until the show at the Starbright, with lots in-between from more rehearsals to a local festival and...well, you'll just have to keep reading to keep up with the Curvy girls!  Check us out at Twitter, and our Facebook page and at  dangerouscurveslasvegas.com

A Salute to Bill Fayne!

Clint Holmes & Kelly Clinton not only hosted the show, but performed as well, along with the likes of; Terry Fator, Louis Anderson, Rick Faugno (Jersey Boys), Jerry Lopez (Santa Fe & the Fat City Horns), Pete Barbutti, Robin Leach, Lance Burton, Mark Giovi (Bite at Stratosphere), Michelle Johnson, Domenick Allen (former lead singer of Foreigner) and his daughter Cayleigh Capaldi, Susan Anton, Cast members from Menopause the Musical (Skye Dee Miles, Sandra Benton, Vida Corimbi), Lena Prima, Voce Vegas, Frankie Scinta, Las Vegas Tenors, Tina Walsh (Phantom – The Las Vegas Spectacular), Gayle Steele, Vinnie Falcone, and so many more! It was absolutely crazy to be surrounded by THE talent of Las Vegas! Dangerous Curves, my sister, Lori and Michelle sang back up for the one and only Mark Giovi.  The song was called “Young Angels” and was written by Mark and Bob Grimes.  It kinda felt like we were in a rock concert!  We also joined in the finale and the audience was absolutely thrilled!
Our next focus is on our next big show, May 8th at the Starbright Theatre.  Many of our most requested songs with a few new ones and maybe even a special guest star!  Hope to see you there! Check us out on Twitter and Facebook!

The Curves at the Four Seasons

Hello Curvy Friends! We had a great time this week with the ladies of Towne Club at their monthly lunch meeting at the Four Seasons.

This picture was taken in the foyer of the Seasons and the flowers smelled absolutely amazing. From the valet who greeted us and helped us to the ballroom with our things to Lauren (group sales) to Dan (head sound engineer) Max (our fave bellman) the service and atmosphere at the Seasons is impeccable and we look forward to someday being a guest of this lovely hotel. Sooner than later. Please!!!
Anyway, back to the fun of the day, which was of course, performing our show, "Girl Talk" for a room full of women! Lots of pretty outfits and hats and shoes in that room, for sure! We had a great time and our "Sentimental Journey" set, "Judy Garland Medley" and "Moon River" were beautifully received. We work hard at designing shows for each client that is particular to their needs and its clear that we really hit the mark on Tuesday by the amount of hugs received after the show! How lucky are we to be able to sing gorgeous songs, in the middle of the day, at the Four Seasons?! Life is great and we are a grateful trio of Curvy chicksingers...
Follow us on Twitter and check out our webpage for more information on how we can perform for your wedding, corporate event, concert or party! Have a super curvalicious week!

2010 is off to a great start!

The Curves were thrilled to be called again by Tom and John of the Performing Arts Society of Nevada to perform in the beautiful Flamingo Library Theatre. The theme of the show was New York, New York. The original artist scheduled to perform had to cancel at the last minute so several audience favorites were called and the Curves were thrilled to learn they are amongst great company! We shared the stage with the lovely Laurie Caceres of Jubilee, Vegas favorites Lou Garcia and Gary Oakes, Tony Arias and Lloyd Ziel, Lee Hughes, and the fabulous Wes Winters! We performed one of our newest numbers, "Lullaby of Broadway" ala the Andrews Sisters and a comedy number "The Girl in 14G". Comedy numbers are always daunting, but this time we really felt the timing begin to settle in. Exciting!

We've begun to dig into our latest musical addition-pop music! We are truly thinking outside the Curvy box with artists like; Duffy, Spice Girls, Michael Jackson, Jo Dee Messina, Shania Twain and more!!! Perhaps, I will post a quick tweet of one of our rehearsals soon and you can let us know what you think! Remember to think of us for any fantastic events, weddings and fun parties you are throwing! We work with some of the best musicians in town and we work hard to make sure you are getting the fabulous entertainment you need for your event. Official Last Post of 2009

Here we are at our annual Christmas luncheon at Maggianos (they have great gluten free choices for Lisa) where we had wonderful service and yummy food!

Even as I write the title I am absolutely amazed! What a year Dangerous Curves had this year! A full-scale 90 minute show, numerous appearances at many local venues/casinos and even a show on the East coast! Our debut CD "Girl Talk" went live on Itunes and Amazon MP3 and Napster. Our repertoire has doubled and our sound has found its way to a warm, thrilling, harmonic place that winds and weaves around each song and really puts the "Dangerous Curves" stamp on it.
We have big plans for 2010. We are scheduled for another full-scale show at the Starbright Theatre in Summerlin in May, we are already working on a Christmas CD and just a few things that we are keeping under the curvy radar until they are closer to coming to fruition.
The most important thing though, is that we simply want to thank each of you for your love and support! Our families, our husbands, our children and our friends definitely give their time and love and more to help us reach our goals. We could not do this without them and you!
The Curves wish you a very Happy New Year and may all your dreams and wishes come true this coming year and every year!

Second to the last post of the year!!! LOL!

The Curves ended their busiest week ever, in true Curvy style. We are a blessed trio of chicks and we try our best to give back to this community we love so much. Our final Christmas performance was at the fabulous Studio 8 Ten. Studio 8 Ten is a non-profit arts and crafts studio providing paid training and employment for adults with disabilities in Las Vegas' Transition Services supported employment programs. Resident artists train in the design, production, and sales of over 50 different handmade products, all unique to our company, and learn the specifics of running their own business. Studio 8 Ten fosters pride, self-sufficiency, and self-esteem by providing positive interaction with the community and opportunities to show off their personal talents. All proceeds from sales in the gift shop go directly back into the program to purchase supplies, upkeep facilities, and pay the individuals for their efforts.

It was our pleasure and privilege to support our great friend Angela Esler-Whelan, who runs the studio and who also happens to be VERY pregnant and on bed rest, but got permission to come out to the open house! It was a great success and a fabulous way to end the Curves 2009 Christmas season!
We hope you are enjoying the Holidays, whichever way you celebrate them! And, look to the 2010 Holiday CD from Dangerous Curves! We wish YOU the curviest season ever!

What a week the Curves had here in fabulous Las Vegas! On Wednesday, we had the absolute honor of performing at Nellis Airforce Base for the Officer's Spouses Club. What a delightful group they were and very receptive. We are so grateful for our military and how they keep our great country safe!

Thursday, we were invited to sing at the Suncoast for Hit Parade at their lovely theatre. The hosts for the week were the fabulous Mark Giovi and the gorgeous Robin Berry! Both of these local entertainers are enormously talented and so welcoming. We did our new big band "Jingle Bells" and an a cappella number, "Star of Wonder". As always, the Suncoast audience is wonderful and loving and we love singing for them!
Be sure to check us out at dangerouscurveslasvegas.com! We have a newly designed website (thanks to our very own, Lisa!)and we'd love it if you surfed by a visit! You can also follow us on Facebook and Twitter!

What a weekend!

This was quite a Sunday for the Curves! First of all, up at the crack of dawn to sing not one, not two, but 3 services for New Song church. It was our first performance of "Star of Wonder" and really what better place to debut such a song but church! And, not just any church, but one that has supported our endeavors totally! And, it went really well. I mean seriously, singing at 8am? Yikes!!! Now, I said this was quite a Sunday and it was.....between services, we rehearsed our second-half-of-the day gig with Dennis and our other debuts of the season, which was the Bing Crosby/Andrews Sisters "Santa Claus is Comin' to Town" and a big band arrangement of "Jingle Bells".
After the 3rd service, we packed it up and headed down to Flamingo Library Theatre for sound check and the annual Christmas show. This show is really fun, because its a conglomeration of many the performers from the past year. And, we all get to see each other and hear each other perform! A fab time was had by all, especially the audience. And, the big 16 page Jingle Bells we've been working on for a month? Well, it went smashingly! Three more Christmas shows to go! Wheeeeeee! Hope you are enjoying the holidays as much as we are! Be sure to check us out at dangerouscurveslasvegas.com or Facebook and follow us on Twitter.

Christmas, Projects and Charity Work

The Curves are rehearsing some gorgeous Christmas music for all our upcoming appearances! We are thrilled to be performing at our favorite Flamingo Library Theatre for their annual Christmas show, which features the performers who have performed this past year. We are thrilled to see who we'll be singing with! We are doing a fabulous arrangement originally done by Bing Crosby and the Andrews Sisters that our own Lisa is working out for us. My fabulous husband will be singing the Bing part! It's gonna be so much fun! In addition, we are singing a big band arrangement of Jingle Bells that is not only musically challenging, but a truly exciting piece to sing!
We'll also be performing at Nellis Airforce Base, a special guest appearance at the Sun Coast Casino and downtown Las Vegas for a fantastic charity that supports the less fortunate, Studio 8 Ten!
In addition, we sang the National Anthem and did the 5K (yes, acutally did it!) for the Alliance for Lupus Research, our current charity. We raised over $300! If you would like to donate, please follow the link above.
Don't forget you can follow us on twitter! You can also follow each curve-Lisa, Gret and Karen. Our fabulous CD is available at itunes! What a perfect gift for the holidays! Curvy blessings to all!

Stu and Den and the Curves Lisa Meisner, Todd Vigiletti, Lisa Smith,
Karen Merstik-Michaels, Dennis Michaels,
Stewart Daylida -former YA's!

Gosh, it has been a while since I have written. Forgive me Curvy darlings and I promise to make it a fall filled with lots of exciting news! It was a long hot summer of rehearsals and shows and lots of work on our EPK and some well needed personal time!
First of all, we performed in the Den and Stu Show which was spectacular! Tons of great comedy and these boys do nothing but sing, sing, sing! Now, it is true that Den is my husband and Stu is our best friend, but still! There's no bias-just truth and fact abound here!!! They plan on putting the show up again so stay tuned for more info on this great show.
Much of our rehearsals were taken up with work on our EPK, i.e., Electronic Press Kit. Lisa is our resident Photoshop goddess and thank god for her, because this thing looks awesome! Gret and I would put in our opines and 2 cents and Lisa would create it! It will be up on our webpage soon so take the time to download it and look it over!
And, hey! Please don't forget to become a fan on our Facebook page, follow us on Twitter and if you wanna keep a smile on your face, download our debut CD "Girl Talk" on iTunes!

The Curves hang with some Dolls!

My cute hubby with me and Lisa. Swing City Dolls, Connie, Robin and Natalie
Two of us Curves went to check out the
Swing City Dolls at the Cannery East, Las Vegas and there was nothing but cutie-pie-licious all around! These girls are adorable with their genre inspired hair and outfits and harmonies. You look at them and you think Andrews Sisters of today, you listen to them and you hear everything from Queen to KT Tunstall back to the Andrews Sisters. Very clever, very fun and we are proud to call them our friends. :-)

Stay up-to-date with the Curves! Subscribe to this blog and check us out at Dangerous Curves!
We are thrilled to announce the commercial release of our debut CD "Girl Talk" which will be live on iTunes USA and Canada, Amazon, Napster and Rhapsody by September 9th. Official release date TBA. Have a super curvy week, friends!

Dangerous Curves checks out Santa Fe and the Fat City Horns

The Curves and Jennifer Vigiletti and Jerry Jones with some of the members of Santa Fe-Jerry Lopez, Jamie Hosmer and Michael Gonzalez.
The frontline vocals from Monday night!
The Curves are enjoying a short summer break and met up with friends on Monday night to check out the local band, Santa Fe and the Fat City Horns at the Palms in The Lounge. We were absolutely captivated by this stunning show of outstanding voices, musicians and performances. These guys have the exciting sound of Tower of Power, blended with the contemporary arrangements and vocal harmonies of today. The arrangement of the Beatles song, "Come Together" was positively thrilling! We feel so energized and inspired to work on some of our newest arrangements. Thanks, guys!!! The whole evening was made even more enjoyable by sharing it with some of our nearest and dearest friends, Jen and Todd Vigiletti, producers,Stargazer Productions, out of Orange County, CA and husbands all around. By the way, we are so proud that Gret's husband, Michael, is a regular in the band! All in all, a perfect evening of stellar music and the ones we love! How could a hot summer night get any better?! Don't forget to check out our page on facebook and become a fan! We'd love to hear from you!

June Blooms With Curves and Hot Summer Nights

The Curves had a fantastic time as the Guest Artists for the Hot Summerlin Nights Guest Artist Series in Summerlin. The host of this event was Grace In the Desert and a great time was had by all, especially us!
The venue was lovely, with big open windows that allowed the sun to shine through and really bring a heavenly feel to the room. Talk about earthly inspiration!
This was a unique show for us as we had no band and only our tracks. In these economic times, we are learning to be extremely resourceful. While our preference, goal and desire is to have live music at all times, the fact of the matter is that in order to bring our music to as many people as possible, we have to remain open minded. It certainly does make us stay on our toes! Stay tuned for the release date (FINALLY) of our CD! And, do your best to stay cool and curvy in these hot summer months.

April Comes and Goes! What??!!!

I can't believe it's almost May!  This month flew by and really it's no wonder. The Curves were beyond busy this month and a fabulous month we had!  I was trying to wait for the video to be finished ( editing, that is) and my husband is working like crazy on it-but it just takes time.  So, instead of waiting to write about our show, I will simply carry on and then post more at a later date.

We wrote and produced what is, without a doubt, our best show to date. We added new songs, had dresses made and made our first (real) lighting chart.  It was very exciting and a real success. Some of our new material included Jason Robert Brown's "Hear My Song", Scott Alan's "Let Love Begin" and even a comedy song, "Girl in 14G"!  Who knew the Curves can sing-dance and be funny!  I am so thrilled with our hard work and it is really paying off.  We are feeling some real momentum with our soon-to-be commercially released CD (just finishing up the licensing), new costumes and video.
In addition, this weekend, we had the privilege of singing for some our country's heros at the Veteran's Home in Boulder City.  What a sweet and loving crowd!  These are the men and women who fought for our freedom and as they sang along with us to God Bless America, there wasn't a dry eye in the house.  It really makes you feel blessed to live in the United States and proud to be an American.  Pictured with us is the lovely Angela, who booked us for this job!  Thanks, Angela for the great food and treats!
Have a very curvalicious week and enjoy this beautiful weather-it seems to be from coast to coast gorgeous!

The Curves had another fabulous day of a really fantastic week!  Today, we had the honor and pleasure to perform one of our songs (probably one of our most requested) Moonriver, with the Oh-So-Fabulous Kellie Wright!  She did her cabaret show, with some of her talented friends (pictured from top left-Cyndi Lee, Kellie Wright, Carlo Driggs-Audrei with the Curves down front).
Let me tell you friends, this lady can sing and entertain like nobody's business!  Great song choices like "Hard Hearted Hannah" and "Cry Me a River" with Kellie's bluesy, toasty warm tones were absolute hits with the audience.  Her friends performed great songs as well and all were polished and professional.  Her band was awesome with Tony Bronco on the piano, Geoff Newman on stand up bass and Barry Farley on the drums.  They really sounded great-of course, Tony Bronco is one of our faves too! It totally made us excited for our performance on April 19th! And, as always, have a super curvalicious day and a fabulous week!
